Acetone won't harm your gelcoat but it may dull the finish slightly. there may be other compounds/soaps that will do the job easier or better. If the lead breaks - you lose the fish. Pure lead is also more dense then alloy. You would be amazed if you took a small scale and weighed various 8 oz sinkers. For those not familiar with a Poke boat, Its a hybrid between a canoe and a kayak. Fiberglass, kayak length with the longer canoe opening. Very good for floating the rivers. Now make a 2.5 to 3 foot leader using the 60 lb test with a swivel at one end and a snap swivel at the other. Attach a lure to the snap swivel.
